During July 2026, I submitted nine stories to publications, including Khoreo (2^nd sub), More Distant Shores (1^st sub), Biome twice (1^st and 2^nd subs), Fiction on the Web (1^st sub), Reckoning (4^th sub), Trollbreath Magazine (4^th sub), The Future Fire (6^th sub), and Story Unlikely (2^nd sub).

I also received ten rejections from publications, including Granta (1^st rejection), Missouri Review (1^st rejection), Quest (1^st rejection; positive), Biome twice (1^st and 2^nd rejections), Fiction on the Web (1^st rejection), Reckoning (4^th rejection), Uncharted (9^th rejection; 3 positive), Trollbreath Magazine (4^th rejection), and The Future Fire (6^th rejection).

One of my stories came close to acceptance. Here is what the publisher said: “Your piece reached the final round of shortlist consideration . . . and was discussed at length by our editors but was not part of the final selection. Although your work will not appear in this issue, it truly stood out for its craft and imagination and we are so grateful you shared it with us. We would be thrilled if you would continue to consider us for future submissions. We’d love to see more of your work.”

Submission activity is picking up again, as it did during the same month last year. I wonder if publishers are more active this time of year, or if this is a coincidence. Anyway, nothing new to announce now, but I do have three more stories being released in the coming months, so stay tuned.
